Ukiyo-e is the most representative Japanese art form of the Edo period (1603-1868) in Japan, literally meaning “paintings depicting the world of the floating world”, and it can be called the visual symbol of Edo civic culture. It was born against the backdrop of Japan's dramatic social changes, with the rise of the merchant class under the reign of Tokugawa Shogunate and the flourishing of Chonin - townspeople's culture (civic culture), which gave rise to the “Ukiyo-e Aesthetics” centered on entertainment and consumerism: an attitude of pursuing enjoyment and capturing instant prosperity to depict the fleeting moments of life.

它是日本江戶時代的「網紅藝術」,用木版與色彩編織人間百態;它是印象派大師的靈感繆斯,讓梵高臨摹,莫内癡迷;它更是穿越時空的文化符號,從博物館到元宇宙持續煥新。浮世繪,這場始於17世紀的視覺革命,用300年證明:真正的藝術,永遠活在每個時代的煙火氣中。 It is the most popular art form of Japan's Edo period, using woodblocks and colors to weave all kinds of human conditions; it is the inspirational muse of the Impressionist masters, which Van Gogh and Monet were obsessed with; and it is a cultural symbol that travels through space and time, which continues to be refreshed from the museums to the meta-universe.

華氏畫廊本次為澳門觀眾帶來四位歷史上赫赫有名的浮世繪巨匠作品,包括繪出驚濤巨浪的葛飾北齋、畫有濃厚日本情調風景畫的歌川廣重、善畫美人畫的喜多川歌麿以及以描繪青年男女愛情場景聞名的鈴木春信,合共展出超過90幅的浮世繪木刻版畫。本次展出的作品大多來自昭和初期所創立的木版畫製作公司「足立版畫研究所」(アダチ版画研究所),傳承自江戶時代的浮世繪傑作。
Hwa’s Gallery brings to Macao audiences the works of four renowned masters of Ukiyo-e this time, including Katsushika Hokusai, who painted the great waves; Utagawa Hiroshige, who painted Japanese landscapes; Kitagawa Utamaro, who painted beauties, and Suzuki Harunobu, who is famous for his depictions of young men and women in love, for more than 90 Ukiyo-e woodcuts on display. These works mostly from the Adachi Institute of Woodcut Prints, a Japanese woodcut print production company established at the beginning of the Showa Period.
